Growing in Jesus

What's It Like?

When you attend Bellaire Community UMC, we want you to feel right at home.

  • As our guest we won’t put you on the spot; you will not have to stand up in the middle of worship, have everyone look at you and tell us where you live.
  • There's no dress code, and no ID check at the door.  Some people prefer to worship in jeans and t-shirts, others adopt a more formal attire.  Regardless of your personal beliefs or prior church history, you are welcome to join us.
  • Worship lasts about an hour, often a bit longer, especially on Communion Sunday.  Nursery and Children's Sunday School are offered at 10:30 AM.
  • Pastor Eric's messages take about 20 minutes during worship.  Our goal is for us to see God more clearly through the scripture and learn how to live each day by faith.  We believe that God's Word transforms our lives, and so we should be asking ourselves, "So what?" every Sunday.  You’re not going to be condemned or judged during worship, but hopefully you will be challenged.
  • The worship also includes music, prayer, an offering, and sometimes a few surprises.  The style and number of songs can vary depending on the service.  We have a praise band, an organist and a choir.
  • Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month.  The United Methodist Church practices an open Communion Table.  This means everyone who is willing to receive is welcome to participate.
  • We offer Sunday School classes for children during the 10:30 AM worship service.  There are two classes, one for K-2nd and one for 3rd-6th, each led by loving volunteers.  An adult class meets at 9:45 AM.
  • Refreshments are provided downstairs at 9:30 AM each Sunday.  It is a wonderful time to connect with others.
  • We apologize for the inconvenience, but our historic building is not handicap accessible.  At the sanctuary entrances we have a non-conforming ramp and a chair-lift.
